Hospitalist Fellowship Program

UCI’s OB Hospitalist Fellowship was one of the first two programs offered in the country. The Hospitalist Fellowship Program is a one- to two-year, non-ACGME training program that is geared toward OB-GYNs who are interested in leadership roles in hospitalist medicine. UCI’s Faculty authored the first textbook in this field.

The fellowship program provides advanced education in hospital-based obstetrics and gynecology, focused on maximizing patient safety.

This program provides strong clinical, surgical and healthcare systems training in both academic and community hospital settings. High-quality training is given by experienced OB-GYN hospitalist, maternal fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, family planning and anesthesiology faculty. Fellows are also exposed to national leaders in the specialty at the annual Society of OB-GYN Hospitalists meeting, where fellows can present research projects.

Applicants must have completed an accredited four-year residency training program in obstetrics and gynecology. Graduates of foreign medical schools must have a standard ECFMG certificate and completed postgraduate training in the United States. Fellows will be required to have a California license, in addition to being ABOG board eligible or board certified.
